Senior FCO diplomat joins Hawthorn

Jules joins Hawthorn, which was established by John Evans and Ben Elliot last year, from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where she was Head of the Emerging Powers Department and GREAT Britain campaign. In this role, she was responsible for delivering the National Security Council’s Emerging Powers Strategy, which aims to position Britain with the world’s key growth economies. She also expanded the award-winning GREAT Britain Campaign to 250 cities across the world. GREAT promotes the UK as a place to visit, study and do business and is on track to deliver £1bn ROI for the British economy this financial year.

Prior to the GREAT campaign, Jules was appointed Britain’s youngest ever Ambassador, covering Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Jules’s experience also includes being regional conflict advisor in Addis Ababa where she coordinated the UK’s conflict policy work in Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia, working closely with the African Union. In 2003 Jules was awarded the OBE for her services in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Jules has also been spent time in the State Department in Washington DC and been Second Secretary Political/Press in Amman. She was named Woman of the Future in the public service in 2013.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Hawthorn, having spent a large part of my career both promoting and supporting British business,” commented Jules. “I look forward to bringing the campaigning and political expertise I have gained working for the country to Hawthorn and its clients”.

John Evans, Managing Director at Hawthorn, added, “Over the last 18 months we’ve built a business that works with clients across Europe, America, Africa and Asia” said Managing Director John Evans. “Jules’s experience as a diplomat, coupled with her recent campaign experience at the Emerging Powers Department will provide huge additional value to our clients. I’m looking forward to working with Jules as we continue to build relationships in markets that we already operate in, and in areas beyond.”
